Please donate to Billy!!!

And I am struggling.  Marathon training is hard.  Because we are in two running clubs (Wicked Running Club and North Shore Striders) we know a lot of awesome athletes.  Marathoners, triathletes, tennis players.  But I also know several people who have finished Ironman Triathlons. To the uninitiated, that is a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and finishing with a full 26.2 marathon.  Now, I find the marathon training tough enough but we have friends who have done the ENTIRE thing, which I cannot fathom.  I can “not drown”, but my doggie paddle won’t get me far in a race.  My friends manage to train for all this BS and still go away for weekends and do stuff with their kids and otherwise have a life.  That is not me.  I hibernate during training, and I still suck at the marathon.  The training takes over our life – no going away for the weekend, no Saturday day drinking, no hanging out with friends on at Tuesday when the alarm goes off at 4:30 am on Wednesday to meet your running partner, nothing on Thursday track nights.  So it’s life or marathon.  And it kinda sucks.

BUT – we are doing this for Patrick.  And for the best cause, DeGregorio Family Foundation.  We love them, and what they do.  So we will power on, and do the work, and finish the marathon.

On a side note, it is well documented that I am a slow runner.  In fact, we all know that I once came in last in a 10K. So, I would like to share with you all of the people who have beaten me in a race.  In no particular order:

  • a 9 year old
  • a 90 year old
  • a man on a crutch
  • a 350 pound man
  • a woman with a club foot AND a crutch
  • a man wearing jeans
  • a man wearing a dress shirt
  • a man wearing jeans, a dress shirt AND dress shoes

In any event, HAPPY RUNNING, BITCHES!!!
